HISTORY
Gerald and Darlene, parents of three intellectually and physically disabled children, became licensed in 2002 to provide Residential Services for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. An inherited chromosome anomaly was discovered in our family. Through the years of caring for our children and pondering how to best plan and provide for the children’s future and our own, several less successful attempts lead us to here.
We are a Christian family and felt divinely guided in this pursuit after the death of one of our daughters in 1999. Obtaining a license enabled us to prepare for our children’s future and to give a better-quality life to others also.
We seek training opportunities to expand our skills and services, such as sign language skills, to augment communication.
Our estate is in a quiet peaceful rural area where we find joy in gardening, nature walks, bird feeding and watching pets, backyard picnics, flowers, community recreational activities, music (Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel) and inspirational worship on Sundays. We have found that a consistent steadier, calmer routine can fill needs that may have otherwise been controlled by medication or restrictions, but not necessarily fulfilled.
